It Calls

The craft sits still, just waiting
It knows you’ll be back
The promises you made while skating
The ice never thaws, it’s an endless track

The comfort of having that spark
And knowing it can never go
Is like eating cherries in the park
Deep red juicy flesh, bursting so

The sun and the grass and the clouds
Set the mind forest full of lush
Ready to bloom avoiding the shrouds
It flows with explosion, not a hush

It calls like the wind calls the sail
It calls like the sky calls the sun
It calls like the rose calls the bee
It calls like the shore calls the tide

Answered and fulfilled it is
The sweet joy of giving in
Watching the words appear in a whizz
Safe landing onto the chin with a grin

Where did you come from?
The stars
How did you get here?
You asked

You belong to it, it belongs to you
As the bird whips by
The feathered breeze follows true
A quick reminder to stay high

It calls like thirst calls the stream
It calls like hunger calls the fruit
It calls like cold calls a fire
It calls like silence calls a sound

It is written and complete
It never will leave
It is here to stay and never compete
It has secrets up its sleeve

The way to wander and to find
To uncover and to produce
To escape inside the mind
To follow always, and to let loose

It waits and knows you’ll come back
And when you return it claps and claps
Forever you will have each other
It calls and will never ask for a cover

An Undo For You

Sometimes I sit and wonder,
how the stars and the sun could
reverse it all and make me younger.

Maybe the moon knows more
of how we came to be so different
yet so alike, still searching for the shore.

What if we were allowed two lifetime reversals?
Would you save yours until the end?
Or would you rather not live with an open rehearsal.

Death doesn’t count, and can’t be reversed,
but, with the luxury of two undo’s,
what would you change, what couldn’t you lose?

Sitting here late at night, looking up at the sky,
I can think of many times and many ways,
of using my two, to rewrite and banish certain days.

I would not change

The breeze that became my best friend,
the swing that held my tears,
or the sound of footsteps that were not so near.

I would not change

The grass that hid the magic,
the insects that leaped with glee
or the puddles that always seemed to comfort me.

I would not change

The way I sat and waited,
hoping one day to get to see,
the ocean waves with their arms waving at me.

I would use my two not on me, but for you.
I would trade in my two undo’s,
so you’d have two more to use and make anew.

I don’t have to think this through,
my lighthouse is pretty reliable,
even when distraught and pretty blue.

What sets you free is not what you think.
Freedom is careful usage of the mind,
that exists even when on the brink.

Would you keep your undo’s?
Or would you give them away,
and set sail for the day.

The Island

Her hair slips over her eyes
As the wind whips around her
Gazing through strands
The distant boats like specs

Standing firmly on the sand
Fully grounded and at ease
The seagulls sit quietly
The waves move gently

She inhales and exhales a message
It’s heard all the way across
The oceans of time and space
Revealing a secret worth waiting for

The sun says stay
The sky opens its mouth wide
The trees hold her in place
The air protects her voice

Tell me, how do you keep knowing
How do you keep growing
How do you keep loving
How do you keep living

An island floating in the sea and the sky
Accessible only from great height
Only from great depth
When found, rewards in ecstasy

She stands isolated
An island, waiting for the next one
To shelter and nourish
She appears when you need her most

Tell me, how do you keep knowing
How do you keep growing
How do you keep loving
How do you keep living

A single drop of sweat falls
From her cheek and onto her lip
The salt mimics her breath
Desperate in thirst, a deep gasp

Sing do the flowers beside her
As she turns her head
To thank them for being
The sweetest episode of today’s show

The climb down and the climb up
Worth every lost and found
Feeling of grief, peace and love
Quietly restored

She has given everything she can
From her place of power
From her place of purpose
It is up to the angels now

The ground holds her
The sky reasons
The ocean fiercely
Calms the fire, slows the flame

Without, she is sticks and stones
Within, she is blood and bones
Above, she is your friend
Below, she is a master blend

An island, existing
For the shipwrecked
For the abandoned
For the broken

Waiting
