As Long As You Like

I will turn you into good
you can stay as long as you like
I’ll never bite, and I’ll never ‘should’
I will turn you inside out

The moments full of grasps
sets the tone for my life
Fighting for the lasts
pondering an afterlife

They show up like comrades
without warning or knowing
energetically linked with light
helping to keep me going

The only reason for a season
is to force us back together again and again
The changing leaves, the longing tides
it’s cooler now, we must gather and not hide

I will turn you into good
you can stay as long as you like
I’ll never bite, and I’ll never ‘should’
I will turn you inside out

Say what you say for one more day
so I can rise full of love, with a pace to slay
The words lay not just in my heart
but inside and around and glazed upon my skin

Painted into light, distinguished
singing with wings, swimming with breath
bursting with bright, following the depth
I watch the stars from a fluid place

Breaking free has an illusory feeling
I am here, feet on earth, hands in sky
Chose to come, chose to be, chose to give
I am here to feed, to heal and to undo the greed

The truth takes time to find
It’s there though, way deep inside the mind
Then poof, there is no going back
She is gone and found at the same time, without any lack

Let it come, let it run
Let it be, let it go
Let it shine, let it find
Let it grow, let it flow

Through empty forests
with wisdom too far known
Through terrifyingly wide waters
deeply held and spread, always alone

It is not without resistance
we are shapeshifters with gifts
to share, to blend and to receive
I wait in line, frozen, then… proceed

Carrots and Ferrets

I don’t peel my carrots
because I like to feel like a horse
munching away, teeth opposite from parrots
Huge honkers, made for grazing of course

And graze I sure do
it makes the day flow a little smoother
Sometimes I eat standing up, do you?
I’m alone usually, and definitely a mover

When you reach that point
of being obsessed with being alone
loving your dances in the kitchen
Oops this one isn’t rhyming, oh well

There’s only like five people reading this
which makes no difference to me
The beautiful way the words never miss
Leaving my heart and my lips, each time always feels like a kiss

This poem started out about carrots
then horses, then solitude, what’s next?
Clouds, weather, cats, furniture, ferrets?
What do you eat that’s your favourite treat?

Intentional choices to bring home the best
feelings inside our soul, it’s different for you
than it is for me, but in common we are blessed
by the moments we share, the kindness we do

Sitting or standing, laughing or crying
Eating or drinking, listening or telling
Moments and stories, hope and love
Horses, parrots, ferrets, carrots, or cake

The pathless woods is never pathless
if you’re in it, the path follows you
even if you’re running naked, full of madness
The trees unmarked, that’s the juice!

I like where this poem is going now
let’s talk more about nakedness and trees
Isn’t it nice, sitting nude outside feeling the breeze?
Except when someone interrupts, geez Louise

I’m tired and just spent twenty minutes chopping carrots
it’s great though, because tomorrow
I can chomp those suckers back, and feed the ferrets
I kind of wish I had a ferret friend, I’d call him Zorro

We’d sit on my couch and snuggle
he wouldn’t say a word, just wiggle
Do ferrets eat carrots? Zorro would
I think I’m going crazy, is this even understood?

Doesn’t matter, it’s fun and maybe I made you laugh.
If not, that’s ok too
I’m hungry again, damn what should I do?
Stand up, dance, put the carrots on the stove and make some soup!

Ignite

Rely on this, put on that hat
It will make you taller, look at that
Face the moon on certain nights
The clearing is coming with great might

It’s time to be alone but with trunks
Holding up the branches, clearing funks
Time to dance beside the sea
Let the messages come and find me

Dropping away from familiar
Taking another step, not so similar
The boat rocks but there’s a railing
You feel it inside, so keep sailing

The nights feel long and lacking
Longing for substance with less cracking
The days change shape often
Bringing less odours smelling of rotten

I hate to say you may be right
That staying here will be a bit tight
To loosen and expand is honest
Extracting what you can, keeping a promise

The quiet fog sits and speaks
A murky voice with hidden squeaks
The mist exists to cover the shine
Which finds me, always just fine

How to teach me how to know
Keep coming and making a show
There’s too much now of both sides
To see so clearly what now resides

Inside my heart and my mind
A match and a log ready to bind
Ignite the fire that’s ready to burn
When the time is right, we’ll have our turn
