Rain Stance

Some days, lying on my bed in the dark, staring up at the ceiling,
leaves an interesting impression and lasting feeling.

A rainy afternoon with pellets hitting the window,
the intoxicating smell, throws me into limbo.

It’s the quietest at night, if I lie here long enough,
the silence gets louder and louder, painting the walls in a huff.

The hazy glow from an outside street lamp,
leading the night walkers back to their camp.

I could listen to the rain all night long, I could count,
how often the wet pace changes, a reason to dismount.

When my feet are on the ground the rain sounds different.
Lying back down and hearing the drops, comparing this, is exhilarant.

Why would anyone choose to listen to the rain while standing?
The beautiful sound of weather, can be better heard within a certain landing.

Soft and horizontal waves over my stretched limbs,
I whisper to the rain, “come in, come in.”

Cover my body in your dewy moisture
Use the breeze to reach my skin, the rain replies, “we can’t avoid her.”

Slowly the silence breaks
revealing a deep drum beating along with the aches.

As the rain touches my forehead, slides down my cheek,
I stare at the ceiling for what feels like a week.

I am touched by your presence, you reached so far for me,
and I will hold my position, waiting, listening, until you set me free.

Send Me an Angel

On the cusp of something miraculous
said the angel to the girl.
What if you held out your palm
and drew a line in the center, in a swirl.

Keep the line going around and around.
I am the utensil you choose to draw with,
I am your devoted one, we are always bound.
Let me tickle your hand, stay open and not stiff.

I will carry you when there’s no one left,
I will tell you what you need to hear.
I will help you shine brighter on days you are bereft.
We walk together, not alone, side by side my dear.

You may not see me, or know I am ever near.
But fret not, because you can call on me and I will appear,
in my special way to comfort, guide and soothe you.
To ease your mind, I drift in and out, you’ll never be blind.

When you walk, I am watching.
When you sing, I am dancing.
When you cry, I am understanding.
When you run, I am flying.

When we are alone in the forest or by the sea,
it is when I can see you the best, you are so clear to me.
The beauty that you are, just in your form,
makes me so happy you chose this, to be born.

Because when you came here, we came together,
and our journey has been the greatest pleasure.
I can not think or imagine a truer or more loving home
than the one we have, yours and mine, it is our own.

I have loved you and will keep loving you
under all weights, all circumstances, through all barriers.
You are my reason and why the sky is blue.
Your ocean of love reflects up so high, it even carries me through.

I am your angel and there is nothing that can separate us.
When the seasons change and the wind stops,
when the rain starts and the sun drops,
I am endless for you, promised to you, no need for any props.

We can do just fine us two you know…
And you do know, because you’ve already told me so.
In that secret little wish, under your breath that day when you quietly said,
“All I need is my angel, thank you for saving me.”

Here I am and here I stay.
There you are, I hear you pray.
Let’s love today, this one very day.
For we have each other, blessed we are, I must say.

Tears of Fire

Bring the rain sweet angel
We dug ourselves into this burn
It is not your duty
Just waiting for the next turn

Whither and scramble the birds beg
For clear skies and a little leg
What we burn, she burns in return
Lessons and instructions, I yearn

I wonder how long we can do this
Didn’t you know you can’t love and burn oil
Together at the same time, it’s a crime
She tries to wash our sins clean
Her tears aren’t enough to cleanse the steam
We must stop, listen, act and love or we shall be washed away right down the stream

Merrily merrily we hop and flutter
Scroll and swipe indulge in butter
Sitting in rooms of towers littered with flowers
Talking and placing blame on thy neighbour

Life is not but a dream, but a given gift so it seems
Every word, every action, every moment
Opportunity for a better, stronger, cleaner state
Gather and make amends as fast as you can, hurry there’s a lot at stake

I wonder how long we can do this
Didn’t you know you can’t love and burn oil
Together at the same time, it’s a crime
She tries to wash our sins clean
Her tears aren’t enough to cleanse the steam
We must stop, listen, act and love or we shall be washed away right down the stream
